About USDT on Ethereum
ERC-20 is Ethereum's token standard. Almost every exchange and wallet supports USDT on Ethereum, which makes it the safe default when you don't know what the sender uses. The trade-off is cost: the sender pays the fee in ETH, and it rises when Ethereum is busy.
Ethereum addresses start with 0x followed by 40 characters. Many wallets show them in mixed case. That mix of capitals is a checksum (EIP-55), and TokenQR verifies it as you paste.
The same 0x address format is used on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Base and Arbitrum. The QR code can't tell them apart, so the card prints Ethereum (ERC-20) in bold. Make sure your wallet or exchange says Ethereum too.
Questions people ask
Is an ERC-20 address the same as my ETH address?
Yes. On Ethereum, one address receives both ETH and ERC-20 tokens like USDT.
Why is my address in mixed upper and lower case?
That's the EIP-55 checksum. It lets apps spot a wrong character. All-lowercase addresses also work, but they carry no checksum.
Can someone send BEP-20 USDT to my ERC-20 QR code?
The address format is identical, so their wallet won't stop them. That's why the card names the network. If it does happen, a self-custody wallet that supports BNB Smart Chain can usually access the funds; an exchange may not.
Who pays the gas fee?
The sender pays it in ETH. You don't need ETH to receive USDT.
